Proposition 8: Speak Softly and Carry a Big Poll
Progressivism piece by Miguel Guanipa (12/30/08)
Undoubtedly spurred by the most altruistic of motives, analysts at the California Public Policy Institute, an independent, objective and non-partisan research network - in their own humble estimation that is - sensed a compelling interest in determining who exactly it was that voted in favor of Proposition 8, a ballot measure designed to insert language in that state’s constitution, defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. In keeping with their trademark fair-minded pursuit of the unvarnished truth, PPI did what every respectable public policy research organization would do that wants to get the unbiased and incontestable facts on any controversial issue: they conducted a poll.
Robert Redford’s Newest Role: Playing “Grinch” To Low-Income Families
GreeenIsm piece by Niger Innis (12/30/08)
New York City, NY (Dec. 30)—Civil rights and faith-based leaders say that Hollywood actor Robert Redford is playing the “Grinch” to low-income families because of his attempt to slow production of natural gas in Utah, which helps supply affordable home heating fuel to millions of homes in Chicago and across the Midwest.
Blacks Have Been Conned About Kwanzaa!
Political Correctness piece by Don Boys (12/30/08)
Let me state the obvious: If Blacks (or anyone else) want to celebrate Kwanzaa that is their right; however, it is my right to set the record straight. Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, nor is it a traditional “African thing.” Moreover, it is grounded in violence, corruption, and deceit. Furthermore, it has an admitted humanist foundation, so professing Christians should not go near the thing. Neither should black Americans!

‘Bail Me Out, Baby’
Big Brother piece by OffSite (12/29/08)
America was a land forged by rugged individualism, hard work and personal responsibility. Our strength was our ability to take care of ourselves and limit government to the very basics of protecting the nation.
‘Dear Mr. Obama,’ Why are our Kids so Brainwashed?’
Edukshun piece by Warner Todd Huston (12/29/08)
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has launched a wonderful little feature that will run until Barack Obama takes the oath of office next month. They are calling it “Dear Mr. Obama"(1) and it is a heartwarming exercise in child indoctrination and brainwashing. The Post-Gazette will be publishing letters from local students to Obama asking him for all sorts of global warming fixes, Iraq war enders, and big government programs.
‘Who Won the Iraq War?’
Middle East piece by Alan Caruba (12/29/08)
With all the reams of news and analysis that has been written about Iraq since the United States and a few reluctant allies invaded in 2003, you would think we would know who we were fighting, whether we have “won” the war, and if not, who did?

‘Congress To Get Raise ! You’re Kidding, Right?’
Congress piece by J. D. Longstreet (12/26/08)
If not the worst Congress this nation has ever had, certainly the current Congress ranks among the top two worst congresses in the history of the US. No matter. They are scheduled for an automatic pay raise next month. For an excellent article on this topic we recommend you read: “Congress Should Reject $4,700 Pay Raise, Taxpayers’ and Seniors’ Groups Say”.(1)
Ayers and Dohrn are Liars
Progressivism piece by Thomas Brewton (12/26/08)
Everything, from people within the Weatherman Underground, to Bill Ayers’s own words, proves his mendacity.
Euro Journo Sides With Muslim Hate Over BDS Shoe Toss
MSM piece by Warner Todd Huston (12/26/08)
Mitch Potter of the Toronto Star(1) is the quintessential example of a self-hating European, I must say. He is a journalist that sides with those who advocate the destruction of his own culture just so he can puff himself up that he “gets it” and he does this willingly ala the useful idiots of old. In his latest pretense at journalism, Potter takes such glee indulging his Bush derangement syndrome (BDS) that he ends up accepting the terms of what “insult” means among Muslim hatemongers and terrorists and employs that as a weapon against Bush and the USA. It does not occur to this writer at all that we should scoff at what they think is an insult because he accepts ‘their’ cultural concepts in place of our own.

The New Deal Would Have Worked, If…
Economics piece by Thomas Brewton (12/15/08)
Liberal-progressive-socialists again eagerly anticipate returning to the disastrously failed economic policies of Franklin Roosevelt. Apparently religious faith in socialism outweighs rational consideration of evidence.
Scientists Debunk Global Warming
Global Warming piece by Geoff Metcalf (12/15/08)
“Hypocrisy is the essence of snobbery, but all snobbery is about the problem of belonging.” - Alexander Theroux - Smart people continue to do stupid stuff. . . personifying the Metcalf bromide about “some people don’t want to be confused with facts that contradict their preconceived opinions or prejudices.”
Celebrations of Death and Emptiness
Progressivism piece by Jayme Evans (12/15/08)
As millions of Americans prepare to reaffirm their faith by celebrating Christmas, the obligatory attacks on the Judeo-Christian traditions of our country are well underway. While millions of Christians celebrate the birth of their Savior, they are met by naked attacks on their beliefs and celebrations of the culture of death. This Christmas season, something stinks in the state of Washington.

U.S. now only 2 states away from rewriting Constitution
Progressivism piece by OffSite (12/12/08)
A public policy organization has issued an urgent alert stating affirmative votes are needed from only two more states before a Constitutional Convention could be assembled in which “today’s corrupt politicians and judges” could formally change the U.S. Constitution’s “‘problematic’ provisions to reflect the philosophical and social mores of our contemporary society.”
Power Tends To Corrupt, And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.
Politics piece by J. D. Longstreet (12/12/08)
“I cannot accept, your canon that we are to judge pope and king unlike other men, with a favorable presumption that they do no wrong. If there is any presumption, it is the other way against holders of power ... Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”. . . Lord Acton
Big Gov’t Lovers Lack Key Intellectual Capability: Logic
Socialism piece by Warner Todd Huston (12/12/08)
The first two paragraphs of a recent Salon Magazine piece by Michael Lind(1) on Obama’s plans for America’s future are striking for the utter lack of any relationship whatsoever between them.

‘Why must it come Down to Popular V. Patriotic: The Obama Eligibility Question?’
Government piece by Rev Bresciani (12/10/08)
It’s America all over again. A few people decided to meet in a small room in Philadelphia to say they had enough British tyranny. A few people risked everything to turn Boston Harbor into a giant pot of tea. A few people have checked the constitution and have found a hitch in the outcome of the 2008 election.
Change That Is Not Change . . . And Iran
Middle East piece by J. D. Longstreet (12/10/08)
Well, now. Isn’t this interesting! Obama’s change is not exactly the change many on the political left had expected of him. Some on the left are even claiming that Obama’s foreign policy, what little we know of it yet, is akin to that of George Bush’s father, George H. W. Bush.
Ford Should Ask Mexico For A Handout
Economics piece by Dave Gibson (12/10/08)
Over the last few years, Ford Motor Co. has invested a great deal of money in Mexico. In stark contrast, they have been laying-off workers and closing factories in the United States.

The Usurper’s New Clothes
Politics piece by Jayme Evans (12/8/08)
“Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice… And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue” - Barry Goldwater - A favorite tactic of Communists, liberals and others on the left is using peer pressure-laced name-calling to try and marginalize those with whom they disagree. If they can successfully convince enough people that a particular viewpoint is held only by those on the fringes, as opposed to the mainstream, they believe they can successfully discredit that person as a crackpot.

U.S. Media Ignoring Obama Mistakes With India/Pakistan
Middle East piece by Warner Todd Huston (11/29/08)
Naturally, the U.S. media is following the terrorist crimes in Mumbai, India, as well they should. But, the attacks seem to be the Old Media’s only interest where it concerns India and Pakistan, of late, for they’ve completely ignored the several mistakes that Barack Obama has already made with his attempts at foreign policy with the two embattled nations.
Obama, Fate, and the Politics of the Expedient
Politics piece by Miguel Guanipa (11/29/08)
Like many other cherished traditions, America’s guardedly dormant skepticism towards its felicitously inefficient political apparatus is rekindled on a quadrennial basis. Yet Americans still resign themselves to casting their greatest aspirations upon the brittle shoulders of politicians. In turn, the latter go on to pledge their commitment anew to the same old promises they will faithfully continue to break. This ancient storyline gained formidable mass appeal when it was cleverly exploited by the Barack Obama campaign strategists.
Obama And The American Socialized Healthcare System
Socialism piece by J. D. Longstreet (11/29/08)
The MsM is telling us that Obama fully intends to push for socialized medicine early in his first year as President. Why not? Our financial institutions have already been socialized (nationalized, whichever you prefer). Our auto Industry looks, for all the world, as if they are ready to become nationalized, as well. Now healthcare, which accounts for one-seventh of the US economy, is about to be the next huge segment of the American economy to be taken over by the government. How can anyone, observing the American slide into socialism, not be concerned and even outraged at what our government is doing to the democratic representative republic given us by our Founding Fathers?
Our Place in the House of Obama
Elections piece by Aaron Goldstein (11/29/08)
Where exactly do Republicans and conservatives fit in a political space where Barack Obama will soon assume the powers and duties of the President of the United States?

Obamessiah to Usher in New Era Of Global Equality
Socialism piece by JB Williams (11/25/08)
For 232 years, free market America has been the undisputed leader of the free world, the shining beacon of individual liberty known for the most productive, prosperous, powerful, yet the most caring and generous people on earth.
Hillary Pick Reveals Obama’s Lack of Experience
Elections piece by Warner Todd Huston (11/25/08)
Time magazine wants so badly to make Obama into the next Abraham Lincoln—so noble that he’s willing to include political enemies in his cabinet—that they are willing to throw away any pretense at observing the candidate himself to make it happen. The latest risible effort(1) by Karen Tumulty and Massimo Calabresi invokes the supposed “team of rivals” comparison as Barack Obama begins to formulate his cabinet. The Time writers base their entire point on the fact that Obama is probably offering the job of Secretary of State to Hillary Clinton, his rival for the Democratic nomination.
Democrats Continue to be the Party of Stupidity
Demercrats piece by Dennis Campbell (11/25/08)
My boss has been hitting the sauce pretty hard lately.
‘The End Of The World, Or Not?’
General piece by J. D. Longstreet (11/25/08)
Some predictions: 1. Obama’s “hold out your hand to everyone” foreign policy is going to be a catastrophe. They’ll love it in Europe. They’re probably laughing their heads off about it in the Middle East already.

Darwin Got it Wrong and It’s Not What You’re Thinking
Global Cooling piece by Alan Caruba (11/24/08)
Charles Darwin got it wrong. This is not to disparage the man. Science is an ever evolving process and scientific theories are subject to being replaced by newer knowledge. Most certainly, Darwin (1809-1882) got everyone thinking about evolution, but the problem is that evolution is not a slow process. It happens very fast.
