Our Lost Checks And Balances

Democrats may well have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. If this happens, there will be no practical checks upon President Obama implementing his political agenda. Our governmental system was created to limit political power by creating checks and balances. Congress was intended to be able to check the president, the states were intended to be able to check the federal government, and the courts were intended to be an impartial referee, calling penalties when one part of the government or another exceeded its authority.
Bridge Loans To Nowhere
Nothing is more ridiculous than the notion being adopted by our government that anyone or anything is somehow too big to fail. There are 435 members in the House of Representatives and a Senate of 50 and yet they have failed us quite miserably and repeatedly.

As I watch, read, and listen to the MsM report the news of Obama’s selection of those people he wants to serve in his administration, it occurred to me that the change he had promised was simply a “change… back” to the Clinton Administration (… or something very much like it!).

As Congress reconvened on Monday for a lame-duck session, lawmakers no doubt are being inundated with requests for more federal giveaways on the taxpayer’s dime—the latest of which is a new spending plan that would provide bailout funds to states and localities.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or are Paris Hilton, you know that Senator Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States. Of course, you’d never know it by how Democrats are moping about. (For the Obama fans out there, that’s called sarcasm.) With Obama’s election victory on the books, he can now start figuring out how to make his vague campaign promises into slightly less vague policy. And with the Democrats expanding their control in Congress, that should be a cinch, right?
Michael Steele and so-called racial harmony
In the aftermath of the Bush years and John McCain’s defeat, Republicans and conservatives are undoubtedly depressed and seeking new leadership. Names like Gingrich, Thompson, Romney and even Jindal and Cantor are being tossed around. But one man who seems to meet with acceptance from nearly all right-leaning folks is former Maryland Lieutenant Governor and current chair of the Republican Political Action Committee, GOPAC, Michael Steele.

There’s a lot of tough work ahead and Barack Obama is woefully unprepared for the task at hand. Although he won the election, he also laid bare his innumerable weaknesses and set his own expectations so incredibly high, he may never live up to them.

Turning Boom into Bust
Energy is called “the master resource” because every other aspect of life operates off of it. Nations that are rich in energy resources such as oil, natural gas, and coal, grow wealthy.
Opportunity
There is no question that election day, 2008 was a dismal one for those who believe in limited government, free enterprise and individual liberty - the principles of freedom upon which this nation was founded. There is carnage on the battlefield; despair in our hearts; and fear for our future. What does the future hold? Where do we go from here? Can we survive?
“Global warming” Has Stopped
In a blog post , Bill Chameides says “global warming” is still happening. It isn’t. As the global temperature graph below shows, all four of the world’s major global surface temperature datasets (NASA GISS; RSS; UAH; and Hadley/University of East Anglia) show a decline in temperatures that have now persisted for seven years.
Closed System Dictates NO Manmade Global Warming
With a closed system, there can be no major variation in temperature. With a closed system the amount of carbon is constant; therefore the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) is finite because the O2 is finite. No additional CO2 can be produced other than a specific amount from prior existing carbon and oxygen. Therefore any increasing amounts of CO2 will eventually reverse, and cannot cause manmade warming.
The Big Lie About Immigration Enforcement
How many times have we heard mayors and governors, when faced with complaints regarding illegal aliens, claim that their police officers aren’t authorized or trained to enforce immigration laws? Too many times, if you ask me. Well, either these government leaders are too ignorant to to hold office or they’re out-and-out lying to the American people.

The Republican conservative umbrella seems to cover a dazzling array of individuals; from columnists at the NY Times to Republican Senatorial lyricists, to the sharia promoting Grover Norquist to that greatest of compassionate conservatives, George Bush.

Behind the counter is an Obamaburger employee busily filing her fingernails and who barely looks up as a young man approaches her, bypassing a longer line at another register which does not seem to be moving. “Welcome to Obamaburger. May I take your money?” she asks listlessly.

The Grim Significance of the 2008 Elections
Perhaps the most disheartening reaction to the November 4 election of Barack Obama has been the attempt by conservatives to laud his victory as some sort of worthy racial milestone in American history. This lame effort to find conciliatory ground with the far left will ultimately prove futile. Worse yet, it lends an air of credibility to a malignant and corrupt political machine that threatens the very future of America and thus deserves no such tribute.
Buffalo News Supporting Silencing of Righty Radio Talkers
Douglas Turner of the Buffalo News wants conservative radio talkers silenced(1). He calls them “virulent,” “violent” and “coarse” and hopes that starting January 1 the “work of flushing” them will begin. Turner fills his little anti-free speech screed with claims and a few examples of how rotten he thinks righty talkers are and how they need to be shut down, yet can’t seem to find a single cross word to say about the “coarseness” of lefty talkers. In other words, it is plain that “coarseness” or “one-sided” radio isn’t really a concern of his. Only eliminating the free speech of the right is his goal not any leveling of the playing field.
Rep. Paul Broun Apologizes for Telling the Truth
In another incident involving President-elect Barack Obama and his media’s refusal to allow the truth to be told about their “secular redeemer,” Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) has been intimidated into apologizing for telling the truth. Note: And for male Republican “leaders” it doesn’t take much to bully them anymore.

Obama to Inherit “New Global Order” from Bush
The bankruptcy of Iceland, now receiving a $2.1 billion two-year loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) “to support an economic recovery program,” has been depicted as something that could never happen to America. Is the U.S. too big to fail? Or is the U.S. going through the same process, albeit on a slower basis?
