When Voices Are Raised
Society piece by Thomas D. Segel (8/11/08)
Harlingen, Texas, August 10, 2008: What do a retired singer, a retired postmaster, a community relations director, and three teachers have to do with easing tensions in a troubled world? On the grand scale of things, perhaps not very much. But, for the people this group comes in contact with, the experience can be powerful indeed.
‘Is Amazon.com Deleting New Conservative Book Reviews?’
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston (8/11/08)
So, here is a curious thing. I have been reviewing books at Amazon for a few years now and never had the occasion to have one censored by Amazon.com. But, I just had two reviews in a row deleted by Amazon and it has caused me to wonder how often other conservatives have their reviews summarily eliminated from the Amazon site?

Rampant Voter Fraud by Illegal Aliens Ignored by Government and Media
Elections piece by Jim Kouri (8/10/08)
A recent study released by the conservative think-tank the Heritage Foundation provides proof that illegal aliens and immigrants with green cards are committing rampant voter fraud in the United States.
How NOT to Have Electricity
GreeenIsm piece by Alan Caruba (8/10/08)
Electricity is so commonplace that no one gives any thought to not having access to it. Few give any consideration to how it is generated, but we are now being inundated with the most virulent nonsense about how wind or solar power is “clean” and practically “free.” Every week there’s some new proposal to cover the nation with wind farms and solar panels.

‘The Red Light Is On - Will You Defer?’
Big Brother piece by J. J. Jackson (8/9/08)
In the opening pages of Ayn Rand’s best seller, “Atlas Shrugged”, we find a bunch of people standing around outside of a stopped train staring at a red light. Why the red light is on none of them know for sure, but it is a signal of danger ahead. Of course, none of them can confirm that there is actually any danger on the track ahead or if it is just another malfunction caused by a deteriorating society in which many are willing to simply defer to others, accept that there really is danger ahead and that if there is a problem someone else will fix it.
‘Can Obama End the “Age of Oil”?’
Energy piece by Dennis T. Avery (8/9/08)
Barack Obama says the U.S. must “end the age of oil in our time,” with “real results by the end of my first term in office.”

Islamists Rule American Publishing Industry
Islam piece by Warner Todd Huston (8/8/08)
America is the land of liberty. It is the place where political expression is protected by law and custom. It is the freest nation on Earth… unless, of course, you wish to talk about Islam. Then, unless you bow and scrape, unless you assert its supposed peacefulness, unless you bend over backwards to make sure that you don’t “offend” Islamists, you will be shut down. At least this is true if you wish to publish a book about Islam, it appears.

Democrats kill ban on terrorists in schools
Progressivism piece by OffSite (8/7/08)
Majority Democrats in the California Assembly have rejected two amendments that would have allowed schools to fire any employee discovered to be part of an extremist terror network and require users of school facilities to affirm they are not terrorists.
America’s Political Gag Reflex
Politics piece by Lee Culpepper (8/7/08)
With Obama’s lead in the polls disappearing, a steady stream of doubt is now being poured over Obama’s nervous and inverted campaign. The great orator appears ready to crack. Soon, Obama could be flip-flopping so swiftly that the infamous 90 seconds required to break someone through waterboarding will seem like eternity. If swearing to be a born-again conservative would make him president, Obama would find a way to deliver the announcement and still pacify his government-dependent audience.
Obama Is Europe’s “Vision” For America
Politics piece by Christopher G. Adamo (8/7/08)
Fawning over Barack Obama as they did during his recent overseas campaign swing, those cheering multitudes of Europeans said much more about themselves than they did about either Illinois Senator and Democrat presidential candidate or the best course to chart for the future of the United States. Somewhat surprisingly, and despite all of the dutiful and harmonious consensus of Obama’s lackeys in the American media, his campaign gained little credibility from the venture.

WaPo: Shocked By Its Own Pro Obama Bias
MSM piece by Warner Todd Huston (8/3/08)
The Washington Post’s Deborah Howell(1) has a howeller in the Aug. 3 edition of the paper revealing how shocked and amazed she was that her own paper had a lopsided tally of Obama photographs compared to how many McCain photos appear in its pages. Of course, the amusing thing isn’t that the Post had far more Obama photos than McCain pics but that, regardless of the raw numbers staring her in the face, Howell still insisted it wasn’t because of bias. Apparently it’s just because Obama has a “great smile.” I guess we can mark that trenchant observation as the best reason to cover political candidates as far as the Washington Post is concerned. It’s a big win for a justification for hard news, surely.
US Arctic Oil May be LOST to the UN
Energy piece by Alan Caruba (8/3/08)
“The Arctic may hold 90 billion barrels of oil, more than all the known reserves of Nigeria, Kazakhstan, and Mexico combined, and enough to supply U.S. demand for 12 years.” One would have thought Joe Carroll’s Bloomberg News report would have evoked some interest by the public and other media outlets. Instead, news of the U.S. Geological Survey was greeted mostly by a giant collective yawn.
‘Will the “Real” Barack (Barry) Hussein Obama (Jr.) Please Stand Up?’
Elections piece by Jack L. Key (8/3/08)
Several weeks ago I was asked by Orange State Press, publishers of Andy Martin’s new book Obama: The Man Behind the Mask to do a Book Review and they forwarded a copy of the book to me for that purpose.
Specter Of Liberalism Haunts Pittsburgh
Progressivism piece by J. J. Jackson (8/3/08)
Pittsburgh is being haunted by liberalism and the city is still spending money it does not have. A little couple weeks ago Mayor Luke Ravenstahl (D), the boy wonder, was concerned and fretting because many of his hopes and dreams were pinned to revenues projected from a new casino (being built by Don Barden) on the North Shore. This project had not only fallen behind schedule, but is now in the process of being transferred to new owners and delayed. Seems Mr. Barden did not have all his ducks in a row and did not have enough funding for his grand plans despite a government oversight and selection process that was supposed to pick the best candidate to build this new source of tax revenues for our liberal government. Corruption? Quid pro quo? Your guess at how this man got the sole gaming license for Pittsburgh is as good as any.
FISA Bill Gets Unlikely Boost From Obama
Elections piece by Kevin Roeten (8/3/08)
With the passage of a reauthorization of FISA (69-28) in the Senate, it seems as if Obama is finally “OK” with warrantless wiretaps. But he was a harsh critic of the program a few months ago. With the civil liberties of most Americans allegedly being shredded with every tapped phone call, it’s unnerving that he could make such a vote. Unless, of course, such a vote could sway independents and centrist Democrats. He doesn’t have to worry about other Democrat party nominees anymore.
A Great Lakes Eco ‘Catastrophe’ That ISN’T
GreeenIsm piece by Warner Todd Huston (8/3/08)
The Chicago Tribune posted a story(1) in the July 30 edition that highlights the often absurd hyperbole all too common in the language of environmentalists and eco-watchers. The story detailed the findings of scientists studying Lake Michigan and the ecology of the Great Lakes, one of them saying it is in “catastrophic” shape. Native fish and vegetation are being crowded out by new species and the “Great Lakes are at a tipping point” the Trib warns. It’s all presented as some major disaster that should alarm us all, as if Mother Nature is being ruined, presumably by man.
Outrageous Reaction to Profits
Progressivism piece by Thomas Brewton (8/3/08)
ExxonMobil’s quarterly report, taken out of perspective, predictably evoked screams of outrage from liberal-progressives and from the general public.

A Possible Judicial Solution to Re-imposition of the So-called “Fairness Doctrine”
Progressivism piece by Paul M. Weyrich (7/31/08)
I have been feeling rather blue. Those who know me know that I never give up without a fight. My problem is with the so-called “Fairness Doctrine,” which represents the opposite of fairness. Talk Radio, as we now know it, represents one of the very few weapons in the conservative media arsenal. 630 WMAL’s brilliant commentator, Chris Plante, has declared that 2008 is the year that true journalism died in the United States of America. I agree with him. The national media overwhelmingly supports Senator Barack H. Obama (D-IL), the presumed Democratic nominee, for President. How can he lose with the national media all but carrying his bags as he goes abroad? With the exception of Fox News Channel the television media is all in the hands of the left. Fox itself is more Republican than conservative. The left also controls nearly all of the print media.
CNN’s Questionable Use of Tabloid’s Poll to Tally German Obama Support
MSM piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/31/08)
How many Germans would vote for Barack Obama for our president? CNN claims to know. During the last weekend that Barack Obama was in Germany, CNN used a graphic on the Wolf Blitzer show that claimed that 72% of Germans preferred Obama with only a mere 11% who favored John McCain. Of course, CNN didn’t think it relevant to mention that only 501 Germans were even polled(1), nor that the poll was conducted by German pollster Emnid for a notorious tabloid newspaper named Bild(2)—not the most trustworthy of sources. This is the same newspaper that published with “gushing immaturity(3)” an Obamtastic “report” by one of their giddy female reporters who supposedly worked out with Obama in his hotel gym after which Obama claimed to have been “hustled.”
Barack Obama and Woodrow Wilson
Elections piece by Thomas Brewton (7/31/08)
There is a striking parallel between the naivete of Senator Obama and President Woodrow Wilson in their expectation of imposing a liberal-progressive model of peace upon a fractious world.

‘Let’s Just Get it Over With, Shall We?’
Elections piece by Doug Patton (7/29/08)
Two schools of thought seem to prevail among conservative Republicans unhappy with the prospect of voting for John McCain. First, there are those who believe that McCain, though far from their first choice, is looking better and better as the campaign progresses, primarily because the alternative is totally unacceptable. Then there are those think that the Republic can survive a Barack Obama administration, especially if it ushers in another Ronald Reagan era.
Journalistic Presumptive and Real Journalistic Demise
MSM piece by Paul M. Weyrich (7/29/08)
It was an unusually warm January day in Washington as President-elect Barack Hussein Obama took the oath of office administered by longtime Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Stevens already had administered the oath of office to Vice President-elect Evan Bayh, of Indiana, who had been picked by Obama because he was perceived to be a middle-of-the-road man. Recent reporting has revealed that Bayh shares most of Obama’s radical views on issues. The packed Capitol Plaza waited with eager anticipation as now President Obama was about to deliver a rhetorical masterpiece, for which he had become famous.
‘Chipping or Sea Changes?’
Progressivism piece by John Ross (7/29/08)
Despite their denials the ACLU, American Civil Liberties Union, was formed by a small group of Communist Party of America members to undermine our freedoms and promote communism. Pursuant to these devious goals, legal “tests” are used to challenge and erode established mores, norms and written laws that are designed to dilute the fabric of our borders, culture and language. Poorly educated (dumbed-down) Americans, ‘slanted’ news from the mainstream media and press, subversive socialist oriented bureaucrats (SOBs) and Hollywood Nitwits all contribute to this process.

President Dinkins
Elections piece by Bruce Walker (7/28/08)
It is becoming increasingly obvious that Barack Obama simply is not competent to be President of the United States. The list of “gaffes” has grown so large that these can no longer be dismissed as simply gaffes. Consider from all its angles the Democrat nominee’s recent comment about “the bomb” falling on Pearl Harbor.

Abortion Provider Closes Doors Instead of Obeying Laws, Old Media Silent
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/27/08)
Now here is an interesting little story that doesn’t seem to be getting any media coverage. In South Dakota after being held up in courts since 2005, a new law finally took effect on July 21 requiring any abortion doctor to read a statement covering the possible ill effects that abortions have on women—both mental and physical—at least two hours before the procedure occurs. The one Planned Parenthood office in South Dakota had taken the state to court to stop this law being implemented, but lost their case on the 18th. On the day the law was to take effect, though, the Planned Parenthood office did not open its doors for “business,” refusing to abide by the new laws. Doesn’t this refusal to operate tend to confirm that Planned Parenthood is in the game for ideological reasons as opposed to being only interested in women’s health?
The Greens are Going Crazy
GreeenIsm piece by Alan Caruba (7/27/08)
It’s hard to ignore the fact that the Greens are going crazy, not just in the United States, but around the world. They are increasingly frantic over the opposition being voiced against global warming, one of the greatest hoaxes in modern history.

Why Democrats Love High Gas Prices!
Progressivism piece by JB Williams (7/26/08)
The average American voter understands no more about the contributing factors of the current price of gasoline, than they do the falling value of their national currency. That makes them easy targets for political manipulation in a very important election year.
The Visual Generation - The Death of Wisdom
Progressivism piece by Michael Bresciani (7/26/08)
When Chairman Mao of China wanted to reach an entire generation, many who were illiterate, he produced his communist message in “comic book” style. It resulted in an entire generation of youth jumping onboard Mao’s red wagon and subsequently tearing down the culture and traditions and the very structures of one of the oldest societies in the world.
Harvesting Our Rotten Fruit
Progressivism piece by J. J. Jackson (7/26/08)
For years liberals of all stripes from socialists to communists to all out fascists have been planting seeds in our society. It became clear to them in the early part of this century that America was not quite ready for the revolutions that swept their fellow travelers into power across the globe in places like Russia, Germany, France and Italy. Something about the right of the people to keep and bear arms still being believed in at the time put serious kinks into that plan. So they opted for a more subtle approach on America’s shores.
New Motion Picture: HYPE The Obama EffectPage 42 of 53 pages « First < 40 41 42 43 44 > Last »
Elections piece by Jim Kouri (7/26/08)
Former Monicagate investigator David Bossi and award-winning documentary filmmaker Alan Peterson have created the most controversial expose’ of a presidential candidate to come down the pike in many years.
