Mr. President, I heard you speech at the United Nations today and listened very carefully to your remarks about Israel and the “Palestinians"--Arabs, by another name (most of whom came from elsewhere), already possessing almost two dozen states who only renamed themselves the latter as an afterthought decades later in order to deny Jews their one, solestate. The Heart of political Disagreement
Nearly all disputes about political economic issues, boil down to differences in philosophies regarding the nature of the legitimate role of government. When I’m discussing an economic issue with someone and there is disagreement, my first question to them is always about what the role of government should be. My second question is about how they justify their answer to the first question. What is the basis for their beliefs about the jurisdiction of government? It is interesting that when Noah Webster published his first dictionary in 1828, the word “government” denoted internal self-control, whereas today when we speak of government, it invokes the image of the federal institution that takes care of us, or at least ought to do so.

Stimulus II, The Buffett Rule, Class Warfare and Math
A leftist caller into a morning talk-show that is part of my daily drive was spouting the “no skin off their back” class envy line about the “Buffett Rule” and soaking the rich. Aside from simply annoying me with his ignorance, I found myself realizing that these people who buy into the Class Envy story line will not be swayed by any of the arguments of the unfairness of the excessive tax burden borne by the top income earners. They pull out their “world’s smallest violin” and play “Cry Me a River”. Their attitude is, “They can afford it.” Or, “They’ve still got plenty, AFTER taxes.”

A college degree? Not for my kid
I am about to commit heresy, to question one of the holy grails of life. - Our older daughter will soon turn 16, and like many teens her age she is thinking about her future career options. She loves to travel, but there’s not a big job market for professional travelers. But she also loves to work with children, so that is her field of focus. We’ve been bandying about the usual options for a college major: child development, child psychology, etc.

Remember Enron? When this huge company went belly up because of mismanagement, misrepresentation and criminal intent the Bush administration was put through years(1) of screaming headlines, congressional investigations and dubious investigative specials on the wall-to-wall talking heads of the cable news channels. In the end there was no connection(2) found between the Bush administration and the leaders at Enron who broke the law.

In one of the most disgusting examples of the self-absorption of the union mind set(1), AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka decided that his 9/11 memorial would not be much about 9/11, but would instead be just another excuse to say how great unions are and how evil conservatives are. This isn’t just gauche, but insulting, infuriating, and just plain ignorant. Not only that, but it is most certainly disrespectful of the fallen and just plain un-American.

AP Editorializing in the ‘News’ Again
In a recent article on the dissatisfaction of Big Labor we once again we see making its way into what is otherwise supposed to be a normal, everyday “news” story, the Associated Press indulging its penchant for using biased labels and left-wing “definitions” in order to push a left-wing agenda on its readers. Even while presenting straight “news” the AP can’t resist swinging all terms and discussions to the liberal side of the fence, a tactic that it employs to push every story to the left.

Should anyone have missed that rudimentary lesson in chemistry, they have only to recall the recent events that took place in the Gulf of Mexico, and a leaking BP oil rig that the best scientific and engineering minds of our time could not stop, for months. If you are a bit older, then you also can recall the great Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

This week I heard yet another black liberal caller to a conservative radio program who felt “offended” that there was so much opposition to “America’s First Black President.” As I listened, (frustrated that I couldn’t just call and debate this guy since I was in the parking lot about to walk into my day-job) I began to think just how racist the caller’s line of thinking was! He was defending the President based SOLEY on his race. Irrespective of the President’s policies, plan, purpose or performance – he was deemed unassailable because he is black. But is he?

It is no secret that New York’s Mayor Bloomberg has decided not to ask clergy(1) of any religion to be part in the tenth anniversary ceremonies at Ground Zero. A cross section of responses from both religious and secular sources shows that most people are shocked or at the least scratching their heads in wonderment at Bloomberg’s decision.

There’s No Tea in England

In America you have the tea party, in England you’ve got this.” - Bryn Phillips, U.K. rioter and self-described “anarchist”(1) - Believe it or not, Mr. Phillips might very well be onto something here. In America, Tea Party activists gather across the country to peacefully dissent against irresponsible fiscal policy by Democrats and Republicans alike. In England, we have seen gangs of young Nihilists wantonly assaulting and killing people, setting buildings ablaze and redistributing wealth by pillaging goods with the notable exception of books.(2) This is what they’ve got in England indeed.

By now, I assume everyone who isn’t comatose has heard about the Standard and Poors downgrading of the USA’s economic stability from AAA to AA+. Despite the White House feverishly working to spin the news for we-the-proletariat--and hinting that ‘it really means nothing’--I suspect there is much celebrating going on behind the scenes. Since ratings were established, this is the first time in History that the United States of America has been downgraded. This is unprecedented in our history. Therefore, Obama is partying hardier than ever. After his Chicago $35,000 per plate birthday bash extravaganza--largely on the US taxpayer--his latest fundraiser planned for next Thursday in New York is designed to bring in $71,600 per plate. And all of this is transpiring while he is on a bus tour--we believe illegally on the US taxpayer--campaign for 2012. Note: As our leftist courts and supplicant US Congress support his every move, no one does anything about Obama’s increasingly criminal behaviors.

The only place where the glazed eyes of the most excited followers still reflect a, “If I could but touch the hem of his garment” look; seems to be at the President’s recent birthday bash. The rest of the world, it seems, does not want to look on the face of President Obama, much less his fiscal policies. The no confidence vote is reflected in huge stock sell outs both here and abroad.
