Instead of teaching our young people about their government, today's social studies mixes sociology and psychology with liberal activism, guilt, groupthink and a desire to become citizens of the world. WND article

Islam was born in the deserts of Arabia in the early seventh century. Islam is a revolutionary, totalizing political ideology masquerading as a religion. - Ellis Washington, 2010

Communist Countries Pay Less Taxes Than Obama Proposes
  Progressivism piece by OffSite (7/3/11)

Is Obama as smart as the leaders of Russia, China, Cuba, or any of the formerly communist Soviet Republics?

‘Why RINOs but not DINOs?
Politics piece by Bruce Walker (7/3/11)

During every presidential election cycle the left inserts its favorite candidate into the Republican nomination fight.  Sometimes, like in 2008, Democrats nominate their preferred Republican.  Other times, the left prevents a genuine conservative from getting the nomination.  What the left does at the presidential level it does in other political races at all, putting “moderate” Republicans in Congress and statehouses.  We, in stark contrast, do not even try to place our sort of Democrat within their party.  Why?  Why are their RINOs (Republicans in Name Only), but no DINOs (Democrats in Name Only)?  Why have conservatives, the largest ideological group in American politics, been content to let Trotskyites run the Democrat Party?  It is an important question, especially after Huntsman, the latest “moderate” Republican, began openly talking of winning early primaries and caucuses with “independent” voters(1).

Michele Bachmann Shows How To Engage Media
Politics piece by Christopher G. Adamo (7/2/11)

Let the pretenders continue with their platitudes about the general sincerity of Fox News reporter Chris Wallace and the “unintentional” nature of his recent insult to Michele Bachmann. Only the hopelessly naive will buy any of it. What viewers witnessed during Wallace’s June 26 interview of Bachmann was the initial salvo in what the Democrat/media propaganda machine plans to be the total political annihilation of one of its most worthy, and feared opponents.

MilesEye View: Another “Conservative” Betrayal - This One Even Worse!
Judicial Activism piece by Austin Miles (6/30/11)

Cincinnati, Ohio (6/29/11)This morning, on the heels of the recent shocking betrayal by two republican senators who delivered the decisive votes to make “Gay” marriage legal and a ‘right’ in New York, cometh a “Conservative” judge who ruled against an appeal of the Obama Health Care plan, saying that the plan, which requires all Americans to purchase health insureance or face financial penalites is “constitutional !” How’s that again?

More Physicians Refusing To Accept Patients Even With Health Insurance
Health Care piece by OffSite (6/29/11)

The doctor won’t see you now: Doctors are so unhappy with private health insurers that an increasing number of them won’t accept new patients, even if they have health insurance.

Vote Fraud Paradise in Maryland
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston (6/28/11)

Thanks to SB167/HB470 (1), Maryland is yet another U.S. State attempting to reward illegal immigrants with free or cut rate in-state university educations all at the detriment to the real citizens of the state—and all without the direct vote of the people. But this state version of the DREAM Act has resulted in some other attempted skullduggery, mainly violations of the state’s voting laws.

Dollar Will Lose Global Reserve Currency Status
  Dollar piece by OffSite (6/28/11)

The U.S. dollar is poised to lose its status as the global reserve currency during the next 25 years, according to a UBS survey of central bank reserve managers.

Weiner incident highlights moral apathy
Politics piece by Robert E. Meyer (6/28/11)

Former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner did something morally commendable--he finally decided to resign his office. In this piece I will make no attempts to pile more contempt or ridicule on the already disgraced Weiner, nor will I try to come up with a cleverly worded insult that is a play on his name. My real concern here to observe how these sorts of situations point to the moral apathy of so many American citizens today. I am told that a majority of Weiner’s constituents wanted him to stay in office in spite of his initial denial, followed by an admission to sending out suggestive pictures of himself using electronic media. That is a sad commentary on our trend in America to conflate the virtue of tolerance with a propensity to condone, or even celebrate bad character.

Bachmann Can’t Have It Both Ways
Election 2012 piece by Aaron Goldstein (6/27/11)

Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann is trying to have her cake and eat it too where it concerns a Federal Marriage Amendment and states’ rights.

Controlling the naughty bits on TV
Culture Wars piece by OffSite (6/26/11)

WASHINGTON, June 26 (UPI)—The U.S. Supreme Court may become the battleground in the struggle over what is acceptable—and what isn’t—when it comes to broadcasting “dirty words” and graphic images.

Spending Insanely While the Economy Collapses
Progressivism piece by Alan Caruba (6/26/11)

America is a sovereign nation, a constitutional Republic that will celebrate the 235th anniversary of its declaration of independence in 1776 and the 223rd anniversary of its Constitution which became effective when the State of New Hampshire became the ninth State to ratify it in 1788.

(2008) - Newspaper shows Obama belonged to socialist party
  Socialism piece by OffSite (6/25/11)

Evidence has emerged that Sen. Barack Obama belonged to a socialist political party that sought to elect members to public office with the aim of moving the Democratic Party far leftward to ultimately form a new political party with a socialist agenda.

‘Obama Mixes Clay with Iron - 2012 America’s Valley of Decision?’
ObamaNation piece by Michael Bresciani (6/24/11)

As the economy crashes around us Mr. Obama seems content to continue tinkering with the social fabric of the nation as the elected voice of the far left ideologues and the throngs of citizens who are content to let government collect taxes and make regulations; as long as they can continue in personal prurient pursuits that would make our forefathers cringe.

Obama’s Union-Sold Regulatory Agency Goes Even Further for Unions
Unions piece by Warner Todd Huston (6/23/11)

With one regulatory decision after anther, Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has repeatedly abused its position and lent its powers to come to the material aid of Big Labor. This week we see the NLRB coming to the aid of unions yet again by changing rules to fast track union votes in businesses not yet suffering under union control.

Netherlands Islam: Wilders verdict stirs up debate
Information Police piece by OffSite (6/23/11)

Dutch politician Geert Wilders has been acquitted of all charges in his hate speech trial in Amsterdam. - Judges found that the populist politician’s comments comparing Islam to Nazism might be offensive, but they fell within the scope of protected speech.

The Atlantic Magazine’s Lies: Of Breitbarts, Kochs, and RightOnLine
MSM piece by Warner Todd Huston (6/22/11)

Last weekend Americans For Prosperity once again held its RightOnLine conference(1), this year in beautiful downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Consequently, the Atlantic Magazine decided to do a report(2) on what went on at RightOnLine. Unfortunately, the whole thing was filled with opinions stated as fact, misconstructions of facts, and outright lies. Sadly, along with the rest of the Old Media, it seems as if the veracity of The Atlantic has taken a hit in this bad Obama economy.

‘Is Jon Stewart America’s Most Consistently Misinformed Talk Show Host?’
Progressivism piece by Aaron Goldstein (6/21/11)

On Fox News Sunday, Jon Stewart repeatedly reminded Chris Wallace that he is a comedian. (1) While I am pleased Stewart saw fit to show his enthusiasm for his chosen vocation with Wallace and the rest of the nation, it seems to me that if you have to remind people you are a comedian then you are probably not all that funny in the first place.

VIDEO: Herman Cain Raises Voice at Blogger, Holds His Ground
Election 2012 piece by Warner Todd Huston (6/20/11)

Herman Cain appeared at last weekend’s RightOnLine conference (June 18) to two standing ovations. His rousing campaign speech apparently hit all the right notes with the conservative audience in attendance. But afterward, in the blogger access room, there were a few sour notes, in one case Cain even angrily yelled at a blogger over a question hard pressed.

Obama will Resign and for Good Reason
ObamaNation piece by Alan Caruba (6/19/11)

I always thought it was creepy the way Barack Hussein Obama has repeatedly referred to the likelihood of his being a one-term President. It is as if he knew, even as he campaigned in 2008, that all the loose ends and unanswered questions about his life would eventually disqualify him.

Get off the couch! America needs you
The Republic piece by OffSite (6/12/11)

As an American by choice, every day I give thanks to this great country for all the undiscriminating opportunities it has given me throughout my 20-plus years here! Unlike President Obama, I never apologize for America. Quite the contrary; I am so proud to have fought to become and grateful to be an American citizen!

Bird-Brain Flu piece by Gary Krasner (6/12/11)

We all knew this would happen next:  It is reported that Weiner is seeking therapy for his disorder.

The Passive-Aggressive Police Chief
National Security piece by Michael R. Shannon (6/11/11)

Who says passive–aggressive obstructionism and borderline insubordination doesn’t pay off for some government employees? We had a perfect example last month where I live in Virginia. After doing everything possible - short of calling for Jimmy Carter’s intervention - to prevent passage and subvert enforcement of Prince William County’s anti–illegal alien ordinance, Jefe de la Policia Charlie Deane achieved a two–fer.

Positively Negative
Progressivism piece by Robert R. Owens (6/10/11)

The Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media constantly trumpets the claim that President Obama was a Professor of Constitutional Law.  And when he was campaigning he charged that President Bush was not respecting the Constitution when he fired(1) eight prosecutors saying(2), “I was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president I actually respect the Constitution.”

Living With Presidential Blunders
Energy piece by Thomas D. Segel (6/9/11)

Harlingen, Texas, June 8, 2011:  The sad thing about our two party system of government is people are forced to live with the blunders of their Presidents for decades.  A perfect example of that reality is the Department of Energy, which nobody wanted but was passed into law in 1977 because a Democrat controlled Congress did not want to “embarrass” President Jimmy Carter by a negative vote on the creation of that agency.  Though eliminating that pathetic agency has been a talking point for the Republican candidates since its conception, because of our weighted two party system, there has never been enough strength on the right to end its existence.

A Whiff of Secession and Nullification
States Rights piece by Alan Caruba (6/8/11)

In May Rasmussen Reports took a survey of a thousand adults asking if they believed that States have the right to secede. “One-in-five Americans believe individual States have the right to break away from the country, although a majority doesn’t believe it will actually happen.”

Stealth Anti-Tea Party Websites: Be Careful Who You Trust!
  Demercrats piece by OffSite (6/6/11)

Those pesky Democrats are at it again - and this time they’re aiming for the group that almost single-handedly changed the standing of the House of Representatives in 2010:  The Tea Party.

Ryan-Rubio, Now That’s the Ticket!
Election 2012 piece by OffSite (6/6/11)

Bill Kristol has always struck me as an aspiring Fox News version of George Will, a kind neoconservative Republican who would inevitably endorse a Mitt Romney or a Tim Pawlenty or a Newt Gingrich.

‘If Yemen Falls, so Does the Dollar Reserve?’
  Dollar piece by OffSite (6/5/11)

How is it that the world’s fortunes hang on the life or death of a murderous thug that the US has been supporting for 30 years? And why, in fact, if Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh is so important, isn’t it common knowledge? Saleh was wounded yesterday when opposition forces blew up his palace. But as I’ll discuss, below, there’s more to the story. (Isn’t there always?)

The Waste Named “Department of Education”
Edukshun piece by Thomas D. Segel (6/4/11)

Harlingen, Texas, June 4, 2011:  You can read every word of the United States Constitution with a magnifying glass and you still will not find “education” written into its text.  From the birth of our nation onward, education was a state, local or family matter.  The federal government made a feeble attempt to centralize it with an education department in 1867, but it was quickly converted to an education office the following year.  For the next century it remained untouched until President Jimmy Carter, in an attempt to woo National Education Association votes, proposed the Department of Education in 1979.  A Democrat controlled Congress, which did not truly support the idea, passed it into law so the President would not be embarrassed.
