PhotoZoom Pro 4: A dream program for enlarging images and photos
by Malcolm T. Hedges (10/16/11)
Enlarging an image or photo is a very difficult task. PhotoZoom Pro 3.1 did an excellent job, but version 4.1 is more powerful and improved.
As an owner of PhotoZoom Pro 3.1, I was excited with the announcement of version 4.
I have used PhotoZoom to enlarge some several images with excellent results in each case. It uses about 22mb of memory when running.
It takes very serious mathematical analysis to effectively increase the size of an image and retain the quality of the result.
PhotoZoom uses BenVista’s patented S-Spline algorithm to achieve excellent results even with the most difficult target image.
Version 4 offers 12 methods of processing and 13 presets which can be ran in real-time to see which method is most effective for a given image. The presets cover a variety of targets to assist in possible best result without excessive tries being required.
One of the 13 presets is “Custom-made” allowing you to create your own scheme.
Batch processing: “With this feature it is possible to resize multiple images at the same time. You can apply the same settings to all images, or use different settings for different (groups of) images. Choose whichever you prefer, and PhotoZoom Pro 4 will do the rest.”
PhotoZoom is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2008, 2003 and 2000. Also Apple OSX.
The PhotoZoom Pro 4 Automation plug-in is compatible with:
- Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64-bit and 32-bit)
- Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64-bit and 32-bit)
- Adobe Photoshop CS3, CS2, CS, 7
The PhotoZoom Pro 4 Export plug-in is compatible with:
- Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64-bit and 32-bit)
- Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64-bit and 32-bit)
- Adobe Photoshop CS3, CS2, CS, 7
- Adobe Photoshop Elements version 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
- Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X, XI, X2 and X3.
- Corel PHOTO-PAINT X3, X4 and X5
and should also work with other programs that are compatible with Adobe Photoshop plug-ins.Mind you, no program can effectively enlarge a core image that is faulty, but PhotoZoom Pro 4.1 can sure try.
A trial version is offered for download, so that you can check it out before you buy.
You can get a better and more detailed description at BenVista
Note: They also offer PhotoZoom Classic 4 for outstanding photo enlargements, targeted for home photography.
