An official such as the president does not need to take a special oath to become subject to the penalties of perjury. He took an oath, by Art. II Sec. 1 Cl. 8, to "faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States" and to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" to the best of his ability. While he holds that office, he is always under oath, and lying at any time constitutes perjury if it is not justified for national security. “It ain’t (America) no more, OK?”

Instead of teaching our young people about their government, today's social studies mixes sociology and psychology with liberal activism, guilt, groupthink and a desire to become citizens of the world. WND article

Progressivism Piece

Murder by Abortion Leads to Societal Death
  by Thomas Brewton (10/20/08)

Liberal-progressivism’s preoccupation with self-indulgent hedonism, evidenced glaringly in abortion advocacy, is literally death, the abnegation of social cohesion through abandonment of personal responsibility and morality.

A vote for Senator Obama is a vote for death.  The spread of AIDs via rampant sexual promiscuity, facilitated by abortion, is only one small aspect of the phenomenon.

Read At Long Last: Obama, Abortion, and the Courts.

Abortion “rights” leave us only a short step away from the eugenic birth-control policies advocated by openly tyrannical socialist regimes such as Adolph Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers Party and Mao’s socialist China.  Hitler forced sterilization of supposedly inferior races and regulated marriage to promote Aryian culture.  Mao and subsequent Chinese regimes limited families to a single child and encouraged infanticide of female babies.

Regarding other aspects of eugenics, see Dehumanizing Humanity and The Slippery Slope.

Liberal-progressive-socialists are big on class rights, but indifferent to one-on-one action to help others.  In contrast, Judeo-Christian conceptions of personal responsibility and morality were in 1776 the indispensable foundation of our society.  As John Adams observed, “We have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions, unbridled by morality and true religion. Our constitution is made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Historically, hedonistic self-centeredness, of which abortion for the convenience of sexual promiscuity is a prime example, corrupts political society.

Edith Hamilton’s famous study The Roman Way gives us a succinct view of the critical transformation period in Rome that parallels the time in the United States between 1933 and the present day.  During that time we turned from self-reliance and personal responsibility to dependence upon the political state, ignorantly believing that a President and his Brain Trust can effectively manage the economy to provide a plentiful life with no personal saving and prudence required.

Miss Hamilton says of the period when Rome was moving from the virtues of the Republic into the collectivized power of the Empire:

...And yet when Cicero [the great orator and leader in the Senate at the end of the Republican period] was carrying on his Cilician campaign in strict accordance with Rome’s great tradition, the Republic was dying and all but dead.  That was in 51 B.C.  Nine years before, three powerful party leaders [Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus] had come together; they agreed to pool their resources and take the government into their own hands.  But it was all unofficial and no one need take cognizance of it if he chose not. …

Something had happened to Roman morale.  The people were safe and at ease.  Rome’s enemies were outside Italy now, far away, shut off by mountains or sea, and although civilian commanders were the rule, fighting in other respects had become a matter for professionals.  Wealth was pouring into the city from conquered countries; easy money had become possible for a great many and the ideal for most.

To have three able men take the responsibility for looking after Rome’s wide interests, saved a vast deal of trouble for others.  The old Republic had exacted a great deal from her citizens and left them poor.  Now people wanted politics at a profit; … Bribery here, there and everywhere, [Cicero] writes over and over again, not an official exempt, not even the highest.  Politics have become a money-making business; votes are bought and sold, so are judges.

...and nobody cares.  Why should they?  Life goes on comfortably and agreeably in the great city, more so by far than ever in the world before.  A violent change in government or in anything else is inconceivable.  Business is good; great fortunes are made quickly in the provinces; at home it is not hard to keep the rank and file contented.  Citizens of a republic where every man has a vote have easy ways open to them for getting money, and even wide-spread unemployment, when it occurs, no longer threatens danger.  The people are kept contented not only by cheap food but also by the Roman equivalent of free tickets to theatres and the major league games.  Let the courts and the Big Three carry on as they like; nothing is really important but a pleasant, easy life which sensible people can have if they choose.

Ten years after that letter was written the Republic was ended; Anthony and Augustus were dividing between them the Roman world; Cicero’s headless body was lying on the seashore.

The New York Times and other socialist, mainstream media see the breakdown of moral codes as personal liberation.  In the Judeo-Christian tradition upon which the United States was founded, hedonistic self-indulgence was seen for what it is: destructive, sinful conduct.

From the ancient kingdoms of Israel to modern-day America, human nature repeats its failings:

Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!  For the LORD has spoken:

I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.  The ox knows his master, the donkey his owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with guilt, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption!  They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him.  (Isaiah 1:2-4)

See how the faithful city has become a harlot!  She once was full of justice; righteousness used to dwell in her— but now murderers!  (Isaiah 1:21)

Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

You [God] have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans.  Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots.  Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.  So man will be brought low and mankind humbled— “ (Isaiah 2:5-9)

If there is to be salvation from the moral relativity and amorality that is today’s American culture, it must be via an educational counteraction.  Ground rules must be changed to permit traditionalists to present their side of the story fully and without the restrictions imposed by multi-cultural texts and politically-correct speech codes.

Students who do not know their own history, let alone world history, students who do not understand why and how social and political institutions came into existence, are poorly positioned to make intelligent changes to meet new conditions.  They easily fall prey to the deceptive and seductive message of the socialist religion preached by Senator Obama.
