An official such as the president does not need to take a special oath to become subject to the penalties of perjury. He took an oath, by Art. II Sec. 1 Cl. 8, to "faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States" and to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" to the best of his ability. While he holds that office, he is always under oath, and lying at any time constitutes perjury if it is not justified for national security. “It ain’t (America) no more, OK?”

Instead of teaching our young people about their government, today's social studies mixes sociology and psychology with liberal activism, guilt, groupthink and a desire to become citizens of the world. WND article

Elections Piece

What a Tangled Web We Weave
  by Erik Rush (4/2/08)

Last Friday, on the ABC talk show “The View” - about as softball a venue as one can get - presidential hopeful Barack Obama indicated that he would have left Chicago’s Trinity United church had the militant, anti-American pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright not recently retired.

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard a bigger insult to the intelligence of American voter. To all but the Obama-struck, the statement had to be seen as gratuitously feeble. “Yes, officer… You know, I was just on my way to have that tail light repaired when you pulled me over.”

Why bother? Because to the Obama-struck, it’s as viable a contention as his claims of not knowing that Wright was a seething racist despite twenty years of exposure to the man.

I was accused by an individual last week of believing that Obama wasn’t fit to be President because he is of mixed race. This is absurd, since I am of mixed race myself. My father, who was white, married a black woman at a time when their friends thought they were insane to hold hands in public, even in the “liberal bastion of tolerance” that is New York City. Though my father was very passionate as regards social issues and the inequitable treatment he had seen blacks experience in America, he never voted. When asked why, his response was that all politicians were crooks and liars.

While I do not condone such abdication of civic responsibility, this election cycle has become nothing if not surreal given the blatant falsehoods purveyed by the Democrat contenders and how these are being addressed. Last week, Senator Hillary Clinton was forced to address the “Bosnia Imaginary Sniper Fire” story, which involved the press catching her in repeated erroneous references to hot lead whistling past her ears when she (as First Lady) disembarked from a military aircraft during a visit to U.S. troops with daughter Chelsea in 1996.

First, she said she “misspoke,” then, she said it was a “mistake.” Yes – a mistake. She’d likely forgotten whilst blissfully floating in the narcissistic miasma which is her reality that there might be tangible evidence which would prove her wrong.

Obama’s proclivity toward adopting an urban black overtone to his speech at times despite his speaking the Queen’s English under normal circumstances, or Hillary Clinton putting on a fake southern accent while campaigning in Selma, Alabama are further examples of this profoundly insulting, snake oil sales show. Of course, having the press – the Washington Post, say – spinning such fakery into “added a Southern lilt to her voice” certainly helps to defray criticism and desensitize readers to the moral ambivalence of falsehoods in general.

Conservatives have maintained for years that far Left folks like Obama and Clinton are condescending and paternalistic. They take it as a given that most Americans are pretty stupid, which is why most need the nanny state, and why they reason that the voting public will believe them. Swallowing their lies only proves them right.

As reported by the Associated Press on Saturday, March 29, we are now being asked to believe that President Obama’s foreign policy would resemble that of George H.W. Bush, John F. Kennedy or Ronald Reagan (moreso than that of Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton, presumably).

“The truth is that my foreign policy is actually a return to the traditional bipartisan realistic policy of George Bush’s father, of John F. Kennedy, of, in some ways, Ronald Reagan, and it is George Bush that’s been naive and it’s people like John McCain and, unfortunately, some Democrats that have facilitated him acting in these naive ways that have caused us so much damage in our reputation around the world…”
- Senator Barack Obama, March 28

Well, I am completely reassured now, aren’t you? Here I thought that – given Obama’s stated intention to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq as soon as possible, his far Left voting record, close ties to pro-terrorist individuals and organizations and the global socialist organization MoveOn.org, as well as the record of Democrat administrations since 1964 – America would have nothing to look forward to but further deterioration of her international potency resulting in further emboldening of her enemies.

In terms of party affiliation, Obama’s reference to damage caused to the United States’ reputation around the world is a blatant example of the pot calling the kettle black (pun intended).

This election cycle, which is offering us two of the most frightening far Left candidates the Democrat party has ever come up with and a Republican who was probably near the bottom of the heap of every Reagan conservative in America is perhaps the best argument for a third party I’ve seen so far. Trepidation relating to becoming a politically balkanized, rudderless quasi-European nation remains for the time being apropos such a development however, as do party allegiances.

It is also the most emotionally-based election cycle that has come around in a long time; the establishment media has not only successfully demonized the current administration and Republicans in general, but has managed to keep Americans as ill-informed as possible about the candidates and the grave issues they ought to be addressing.
